Quinze-Vingts National Ophthalmology Hospital was created in 1260 by Saint Louis (Louis IX of France). The hospital was intended to house 300 poor-blind city-dwellers (15×20), right outside the fortified wall near the Louvre fortress, which is today the Louvre Palace .
The hospital was moved by Louis XVI in 1779. The Hospital is now located 28 rue de Charenton, 75012 Paris.
